perdeva uno dei suoi figli migliori, Guido <SPAN class=SpellE>Picelli</SPAN>.
A capo degli «Arditi del Popolo», organizzazione di autodifesa proletaria
comprendente antifascisti di diverse tendenze (socialisti, anarchici,
cattolici, comunisti, ecc.), <SPAN class=SpellE>Picelli</SPAN> guidò la lotta
di Parma contro le squadracce fasciste fattevi affluire da fuori. I primi di
agosto del 1922 le barricate erette nei quartieri popolari dell’<SPAN
class=SpellE>Oltretorrente</SPAN> e <SPAN class=SpellE>Saffi-Naviglio</SPAN>
respinsero i fascisti. Un caso quasi unico in Italia di resistenza armata
vittoriosa già all’insorgere del fascismo. Eletto deputato al Parlamento nel
1921 per il Partito Socialista e poi nel ’24 per il Partito Comunista, <SPAN
class=SpellE>Picelli</SPAN> fu arrestato in seguito alle leggi speciali del
regime fascista e condannato a cinque anni di confino. Espatriato
clandestinamente in Francia, si rifugiò in Belgio, e poi raggiunse l’Unione
Sovietica. Allo scoppio della guerra di Spagna nel 1936 si arruolò nelle
Brigate Internazionali dei volontari che andarono a combattere per la difesa
della Repubblica spagnola contro l’esercito fascista di Franco. Comandante
della 1 Compagnia del Battaglione Garibaldi, cadde in combattimento sul fronte
di <SPAN class=SpellE>Mirabueno</SPAN> il 5 gennaio 1937.
